The 5x112 bolt pattern is the most common fitment in the premium European car market. If you own an Audi, a VW Golf from Mk5 onwards, a Mercedes-Benz, a newer BMW, a MINI F56 or a Porsche Taycan, you are almost certainly on 5x112. Here is everything you need to know.
What Cars Use 5x112?
5x112 means 5 bolts arranged in a circle 112mm in diameter. It is the dominant fitment across the Volkswagen Group and Mercedes-Benz, and has been adopted by BMW for their newer models (G-chassis onwards) and by Porsche for the Taycan, Cayenne (2018+) and Panamera.

- BMW (G-chassis): 66.5mm
- Porsche (Taycan, Cayenne 2018+): 66.5mm

Offset Guide for 5x112
Getting the offset right is critical. Too much positive offset and the wheel sits too far into the arch, potentially fouling on suspension components. Too little and it sticks out past the bodywork.
- VW Golf Mk7/Mk8 standard: ET49 on 7.5J, ET42–ET45 on 8J
- Audi A3 and S3: ET42–ET45 on 18x8 to 19x8.5
- Audi A4/A5: ET38–ET45 depending on width
- Mercedes C-Class/A-Class: ET40–ET45
- BMW 3 Series G20: ET40–ET45
Best Wheel Sizes for 5x112 Cars
- 18 inch: Ideal for comfort-focused daily drivers. Allows a decent tyre sidewall for pothole protection. 18x8 Audi TTRS Concave Style is a popular choice.
- 19 inch: The most popular upgrade size. Better road presence, still comfortable. 19x8.5 Audi TTRS Concave Style in Black Machined.
- 20 inch: Sporty and dramatic. Best on lowered cars or models with adaptive suspension.
