If you are in Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Poland, the Netherlands or anywhere else in the EU, you have probably had this happen. You order wheels from a British website, the price looks good, and then a courier emails you before delivery asking for import VAT, a customs duty charge and a clearance fee before they will release the pallet.
That does not happen when you order from us, and it is worth understanding why, because it is not a loophole or a promise we are making. It is where we physically are.
Why Northern Ireland is different
We ship from our unit in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh. Northern Ireland sits inside the EU single market for goods. Under the Windsor Framework arrangements, goods moving from Northern Ireland into any EU member state move as internal EU movements rather than as imports from a third country.
In plain terms:
- No customs duty on arrival.
- No import VAT collected at the border.
- No customs clearance or brokerage fee from the courier.
- No commercial invoice drama and no pallet held at a depot while paperwork is sorted.
A supplier shipping from mainland Britain cannot offer this. Their goods leave Great Britain and enter the EU as an import, and the charges follow. On a set of four 20 inch wheels, that difference is commonly somewhere between 40 and 100 euro in duty, VAT handling and clearance fees, and it arrives as a surprise after you have already paid.
What you actually pay
The price you see at checkout is the price. Our EU delivery is charged on size:
- Up to 20 inch, from £60 per order.
- 21 inch and above, from £80 per order.
Typical transit is three to five working days after dispatch, and in-stock orders placed before 3pm on a working day go out the same day. You get a tracking number by email when the pallet leaves us.
Prices are shown in euro automatically if you are browsing from a eurozone country, so you are not converting in your head or guessing at an exchange rate.
Finding the right wheel
The fastest route is by bolt pattern, because that is what actually decides fitment:
- 5x112 alloy wheels for Audi, Volkswagen, Mercedes, Skoda and SEAT
- 5x120 alloy wheels for Transporter, Range Rover, Defender and Tesla
- 5x108 alloy wheels for Ford, Volvo, Jaguar and Peugeot
- 5x100 alloy wheels for Polo, Fabia, Ibiza and older Golf
- 5x130 alloy wheels for Porsche
Or browse by manufacturer style: Audi, Volkswagen, Mercedes, Range Rover, Ford, Skoda and Tesla.
Centre bores and spigot rings
One thing that catches people out when buying across borders. Our wheels are machined with a larger centre bore so one wheel covers several vehicles. That means most cars need a spigot ring to centre the wheel correctly on the hub. We include the correct rings free with every order, so you are not hunting for them locally after the pallet arrives.
If you are unsure which bore your car takes, send us the registration or the make, model and year before you order and we will confirm it.
Buying for a business
If you are a garage, tyre shop, body shop or wheel retailer, the customs position matters even more, because it is predictable cost you can quote to your own customers without a surprise bill landing weeks later.
We supply trade across the EU with no minimum order and no minimum order value, so you can start with a single set and see how it goes rather than committing to a pallet. Our trade and wholesale page has the details, or email sales@omiwheels.com with your company name, address and VAT number.
Certification
Our branded ranges carry VIA and JWL certification, which is the Japanese structural standard for road wheels covering impact, radial fatigue and cornering fatigue. Most replica wheels sold in the UK are not certified at all. If you are buying for a customer car or a business, that is worth checking on any supplier, not just us.
Still not sure
Message us on WhatsApp on +44 7753 828059 with your car and the size you are after. We answer that fastest, and we would rather spend five minutes getting the fitment right than process a return.
