Fitting aftermarket wheels to a Tesla is not the same as fitting them to a Golf. The weight difference is significant — a Model 3 Long Range weighs around 1,850 kg and a Model Y Performance pushes past 2,100 kg. That means each corner of a loaded Model Y is carrying over 500 kg, which puts you above the JWL standard load rating of 690 kg per wheel under dynamic cornering conditions.

Most wheel retailers do not mention this. We do, because selling you the wrong wheel is worse than not selling you one at all.

What load rating do Tesla wheels actually need?

The short answer is higher than most OEM style alloys are rated for. A standard JWL certification covers 690 kg per wheel. A Model Y rear axle under load needs closer to 750 to 800 kg per wheel. The front is lighter but still demanding.

The wheels we carry for Tesla fitment have been selected with this in mind. Each listing states the load rating and the certification level. Do not buy a wheel for a Tesla that does not publish its load rating — that is the number that matters.

Our Tesla fitment wheels

All three run a 5x114.3 bolt pattern, which is Tesla's standard across the Model 3 and Model Y range.

Winter wheels for Tesla

A second set of wheels with winter tyres is one of the best investments a Tesla owner can make. Regenerative braking is significantly less effective in cold weather, and the car's weight makes stopping distances longer on cold wet roads. A 19 inch set with 235/45 R19 winter tyres gives you a meaningful safety margin without touching the car's range calculator calibration.

Message us on WhatsApp with your Tesla's spec and we will confirm the right offset and whether spigot rings are needed before you order.
